thinking about how weird it is that, at least through casual text conversation, saying "please" when asking someone to do something can come across as impatient or rude in spite of the word& #39;s intended use as a way to be polite and kind
if I consider asking a friend through text to "please" do something, I always feel like the departure from a more casual wording would imply that I& #39;m frustrated or something
this thread brought to you by the fact that I spent like two minutes repeatedly typing and then deleting the word "please" in a text to my dad because I& #39;m neurotic like that

(we have a super casual relationship so I guess it just felt... weirdly formal to say)
