Thank you for the kind words & making this time so special. Little known fact about me: I didn't pass student teaching the first time. My cooperating teacher questioned my ability to plan lessons & build relationships w/students. She determined I wasn't ready for classroom. (1/9)
Because of this, I needed to complete an additional student teaching placement the following semester in order to graduate, which I passed without any issues. However, that whole process shattered my confidence. (2/9)
After my initial placement, I questioned whether this was the career for me and whether this was what God was using to redirect my path. (3/9)
However, I realize in hindsight that it was the exact opposite. God used this to strengthen me and remind me that even in the hardest days/months/years, He will always be there for me to rely on. (4/9)
I now recognize how instrumental the student teaching period is. Because of this, I don't take it lightly when candidate teachers are placed in my classroom. Ultimately, not passing student teaching has continued to impact me and my teaching for the better. (5/9)
It has made me significantly more grateful for this award. There have been countless coworkers that have come beside me over the past 13 years to guide, laugh, encourage, listen and cry with me. You have helped form me into the educator I am today. (6/9)
To the 1400+ students God has intentionally placed in my class, I hope you know how much you mean to me. Regardless of how many years it's been since you were sitting in my classroom, I will always remember you (even though I may not recognize you at first). (7/9)
You all have become some of my best friends, and most of my favorite memories and heartiest laughs are with you. I will be there for you in a heartbeat when you need me. I love you so, so much, and am so proud to have been your teacher.
