March 15, 2020 this account had 15 bot followers with zero tweets and only a little after 5 months later I crossed 10k.

Don’t buy ads. Paying people to like or follow your stuff doesn’t get you anywhere.
Odds are the people who follow you after you “promoting” your tweet aren’t going to engage in the long run.
Never bought an ad and don’t plan on it.

You don’t have to be an expert.
People enjoy the growth and process of someone more than being talked down to from a podium. Being on the younger side of the investing community (24 yr. old) I thought that would be a crutch for me when in reality people enjoyed my growth.

Engage with everyone.
Answer every DM, reply to comments, & even engage with people who challenge your tweets!
Someone that is skeptical of what you say hit back with “Why do you think that?” Or “can you expand?”
You may gain more understanding and build a bridge.

Follow like minded individuals.
One of my big things is investing/business transparency. That is “my niche” & something I search for when looking for inspiration.
Twitter is truly a bubble of inspiration and I am always searching for people within my niche with great ideas.

Be real.
Being completely anon in the short run can be helpful to a small account. As your brand/account grows you have to put a face to the name. At the end of the day people like to know there’s someone behind the words. It adds credibility & I have enjoyed being fully me! https://twitter.com/rebelmarkets/status/1319667380721733635

Tweet a lot.
“Viral” tweets are NEVER planned. I made this tweet while cooking eggs for breakfast & spent about 3 whole minutes planning it. On the other hand, I have spent an over an hour on some threads that totally have flopped (hopefully not this one lol). https://twitter.com/rebelmarkets/status/1288504027056046080

Learn your audience.
Over time you will become aware through comments/DMs/conversations etc. what your audience wants to hear. If you don’t engage you won’t learn & you will just be shooting blanks.
My audience likes transparency and hearing my investment thought process. https://twitter.com/rebelmarkets/status/1314579568875966464

Remember to have fun.
This account was basically by mistake. I enjoyed investing & talking to friends about it. I realized I could just tweet out my thoughts about the market. You will get burned out if it’s not your passion &/or triggered if you take twitter too seriously.

Connections = everything
When I first started tweeting about investing I engaged with @MorningBrew. I have always been a fan of their newsletter so it wasn’t a “forced” connection. Over time this connection grew & they put me on a list to follow. That was my first big break. https://twitter.com/rebelmarkets/status/1277022816546820096

Don’t ask for followers, ask for engagement
My “best tweets” are ones the ushered the best engagement/conversations. At the end of the day I learn just as much from the conversations in the comments as the next person and people will want to follow for future conversations. https://twitter.com/rebelmarkets/status/1293348851382915076
