Maybe it's because I wasn't drinking in college so I actually observed the behavior of women around me, but between ages of about 17-20 I became extremely conservative on the sexual revolution. It was apparent that every woman around me was miserable about it and couldn't say it. https://twitter.com/s_amememe___/status/1320412783129858049
You look at the numbers of women being prescribed both anti-depressants and contraceptives, hear them talk about all their anxiety, worry about men constantly while heatedly condemning them, and see them frantically self-medicating with alcohol and drugs...
Then you hear this loud angry "it's all the fault of those evil GOP Christian fascists" as if more SSRIs, more thorough contraception, more failure to build lasting relationships because nothing is truly shared... and the cognitive dissonance is just unreal. As we now all see.
It was a bummer. The dudes were clearly rotten monsters, but the women were playing right into it, were miserable about it, but couldn't tell themselves that and were doubling down on demanding from the rotten men more of what made them all miserable in the first place.
