Hey #Edmonton #Dogs,
I need to woof with you about something.
When you take your human out for walks & come across me, or any other dog with a wheelchair user, please give us space & don& #39;t come up for sniffs. A person in a wheelchair can& #39;t easily see behind them,

1/
so please let us know if you& #39;re coming up behind us & need to pass. Give us a moment & I& #39;ll make room for you & quietly wait for you to go by. And please, whatever you do, stay close to your human & even though sitting people are closer to your height & exciting to meet,

2/
Please don& #39;t jump up against a person in a wheelchair. Even if you have little paws, it can be painful for someone with nerve pain. If you use a flexi leash, have your human shorten it so you can& #39;t get close enough to catch on the wheelchair casters or parts.

3/
These are just a few things to do to keep us all safe.
Last night my Mistress was badly startled when suddenly a very large dog came up right behind us. She had just given me the release command so I could go potty & she couldn& #39;t quickly turn to see what the commotion was.
4/
The other dog likely just wanted to play but in the dark on ice & not knowing the dog, it startled her. The dog& #39;s handler pulled it away from us & suggested us dogs meet. We& #39;re still getting used to the wheelchair on ice & if the other dog got excited it might not be safe.

5/
Based on that & not knowing how the other dog is with wheelchairs, we declined. Please, even though it& #39;s fun to meet new dogs, give those of us with wheelchair users extra room. We don& #39;t want anyone to get tangled up, jumped at or paws ran over. We want everyone to be safe.
