The Genius Indian Mathematician...

Srinivasa Ramanujan (22 Dec 1887 – 26 Apr 1920)

An intuitive mathematician. A self-taught math prodigy. A man who solved more than 3900 mathematical theorems entirely on his own. A Genius. A Child Prodigy.

And yet again a forgotten hero...
The mathematical genius made substantial contributions to the analytical theory of numbers, elliptical functions, continued fractions, & infinite series, & compiled more than 3,900 mathematical theorems, equations in his lifetime, most of them being novel.
Born in a very humble family, his father worked as a clerk at a sari store. His all siblings died in infancy & he was the only surviving child.

By the age of 13, he had completely mastered advanced trigonometry. Yes, at 13!!
On 16 Jan 1913, he wrote to G. H. Hardy, a renowned mathematician at Cambridge University & sent him some of his theorems & formulae, which completely left Hardy awestruck.

Hardy invited Ramanujan to England bu initially refused to leave his country but later on did pay a visit
Most interesting part abt Ramanujan’s work was that he stated that throughout his life, he repeatedly dreamed of goddess Namagiri & she presented him with complex formulas over & over, which he then tested & verified upon waking. One e.g. was the infinite series for Pi

Divine!🙏
Ironically, many Indians only came to know about him when Hollywood decided to make a film on him- The Man Who Knew Infinity(2015)

Wondering, who was preventing us from knowing about this genius & making us believe that we were nothing more than snake charmers? Identify them.
