Global climate change isn't being stopped. Not even close. Nothing meaningful will happen because no one in power actually thinks global warming is the #1 existential threat to humanity. They think socialism is.
We are not getting anything approaching the action & change in the world economy to slow climate change. At best, we'll get some domestic conservation efforts & a more aggressive EPA. Which isn't nothing but the consequences will be local, not global.
Climate change results from the touchstones of capitalism: Endless growth & the profit model. That's not going away. Power exists to preserve it.

"Greening" our present economy will do very little. Anyone suggesting otherwise is lying to you.
At best, rich countries will outsource more and more pollution to poor ones that retain loose regulations. So Flint might get cleaner water but sub-Saharan Africa will only become more uninhabitable. Nordic countries have already engaged in this paradigm. https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2019/12/6/the-dark-side-of-the-nordic-model/
The Davos set pretend climate change is their #1 priority (The Great Reset). But again, they really just want to preserve existing capital flows. So their "Green" efforts won't shift the economic models causing climate change, merely the burden onto whom the consequences fall.
If profits for major corporate & individual interests begin to fall, the sword will fall on workers. More outsourcing, fewer labor regulations. Serfdom for most while the Tom Steyers & Al Gores continue to jet around the world talking about "impact investing."
AOC's Green New Deal is nothing. It's scribbles on a cocktail napkin. What hurts capital flows will be ignored and what doesn't will be amplified by those who use whatever brand she's cultivating to sell you on a more creative planetary destruction.
Al Gore isn't any more honest than the Exxon executives that spent 40 years insisting climate change is bullshit. Environmentalism is just another way for the same forces to get richer. They don't care about "the planet." They won't give up anything to help it.
