COVID has proven that we’re incapable of even short-term planning. The spike in cases from our actions 2 weeks ago; by the time these cases mature in two weeks into the inevitable ICU crush, intubations, and deaths, we’ll have forgotten our culpability a mere 30 days earlier.
So while everybody is dying from our Thanksgiving laxity people will be complaining about “no holiday parties” or “Christmas being cancelled” because we can’t even follow a line of causality back 40 days when it comes to regulating ourselves.
So instead of having a smoothly operating society with a few reasonable restrictions, we’re going to endure 2-3 month cycles of harsh restrictions followed by chaos because we can’t think 2 weeks ahead and restrain our immediate need for reward.
