If you're not familiar with Marine Corps ANGLICOs, they're descended from the Joint Assault Signal Support Companies of World War 2, created to do interservice fire support coordination and manned by Marine, Navy, and Army Air Force personnel.
All modern close air support procedures and tactics come from the JASCOs making it up as the Pacific War went along. Nowadays, ANGLICOs train to embed with partnered force (either combined or joint) and tie them to MAGTF Fire Support.
