Dr. Surajit Khanna Awarded For His Child Safety Work. In this video, Dr.
Khanna is awarded a plaque commemorating his work as an advocate of Child Safety, after his speech (Separate Video ()) at the “Ties For Guys” event at the Chestnut Ridge Middle School in February, 2020, by School Principal Holly-Zuber Banks.
Also part of the presentation to Dr. Khanna, was Dr. Deborah Wortham, Superintendent of the East Ramapo School District (She has since left the district after being named superintendent of Roosevelt Union Free School District ( https://www.lohud.com/story/news/education/2020/06/24/east-ramapo-superintendent-wortham-long-island-roosevelt-district/3241196001/)).

The “Ties for Guys” Presentation and Dinner Event honored the young men of Chestnut Ridge Middle School as they were presented a tie from a mentor of their choice, or by a member of the audience.

During Dr. Khanna’s speech (in separate video ()), he spoke abut Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s desire for young men to build their character, to not stand with the crowd, and to combine intelligence with their character, as the goal of true education.
He was given the award after his speech.
Other Speakers included, NY State Senator David Carlucci ( https://www.nysenate.gov/senators/david-carlucci), and Police Officer Andre Riobe. Also in attendance were Dr.
Aney Paul ( http://rocklandgov.com/departments/county-legislature/aney-paul/), Rockland County Legislator; Eudson Tyson Francois ( https://www.eudsonfrancois4senate.com ), Trustee/Police Commissioner of Spring Valley; and many others.
There were about 300 people in attendance for this awards and dinner event including about 90 students.
