ok but kurotsukki abo au where literally everybody realizes that kuroo and kei were basically together long before they do. embarrassingly, kei doesn’t realize until about the eleventh time he has asked for kuroo’s jacket for his nest. +

naturally, it’s kenma who first notices. he’s known kuroo long enough to notice the way kuroo always perks up whenever kei enters the same room, whether he sees him or not. the moment kuroo gets a whiff of him, kei would immediately be the center of his attention. +

it makes sense that the next person to notice was tadashi. most people think that kei doesn’t like being touched. they aren’t entirely wrong, but they aren’t entirely right either. in truth, kei Loved being touched and being held. he just didn’t like being touched and held by +

by just anyone. kuroo, apparently, isn’t just anyone. it was only light touches at first, bc kuroo could be teasing and playful, but he was sweet and gentle and respectful. but kei :) initiates :) light touches suddenly turned into held hands :) and hugs :) +

kuroo is warm :( when kei is feeling particularly not good :( he’d press his forehead against kuroo’s back :( or wrap his hands around kuroo’s bicep for god knows how long :( or sometimes :( kuroo would even let kei bury his face in his neck :( +

tadashi honestly truly Realizes when kei offers his hair for kuroo to ruffle :) and kei :) actually :) goddamn :) purrs quietly :) +

it’s funny how daishou realizes earlier than most of kei and kuroo’s friends. he shared a class with kei (they’re in college), didn’t even know who he was. kei, however, caught his attention bc daishou could smell the kuroo tetsurou (his frenemy #1) on him from a MILE away +

everybody else realizes through bits and pieces. akaashi and suga stare at each other as they see kei bring an old nekoma jersey with the number “1” to his nest through the open door. +

they had a practice match one day with an all-alpha team and kuroo and kei could Not deal with the smell at all. yaku and lev see the way kuroo wrapped his arms around kei and buried his face in the back of kei’s head, inhaling deeply. sees the way kei lets him. +

later on during the match, when the smell was getting too intimidating for kei, he silently came up to kuroo and hugged him from behind, sniffing at the back of his neck, sweat be damned. hajime and tooru widen their eyes at each other when kuroo actually takes it further. +

kuroo pulls him by the arm so they were facing each other, smiling fondly at him as he drags him to a hug. rubbing his head against kei’s jaw, then all over his neck, then his shoulders. scenting him. hajime and tooru weren’t sure kuroo and kei realize what they’re doing. +

then :) kei starts borrowing kuroo’s clothes. wasn’t even being discreet about it. kuroo’s hoodies were his favorites. when he’s wearing one of them, people often see him sniffing at the ends of the sleeves or burying his head inside so he could be engulfed in kuroo’s scent. +

kei gets extremely pissy a few days before his heat :) during those days :) he’d snap at anyone who wasn’t kuroo (or tadashi, bc he’s tadashi <3). and he’d get absolutely soft and sweet with kuroo :( he’d sit beside kuroo and tug at the elder’s arm and wrap it around himself +

kuroo would indulge ALWAYS. the others would watch from afar (pre-heat kei terrifies them ok) the way kei would innocently rub his cheek all over kuroo’s face and neck and shoulders. watch how kei would wrap his arms around one of kuroo’s and refuse to let go :) +

everyone wants to tell them so bad :) especially when kuroo starts greeting kei with a kiss to his forehead and kei starts kissing kuroo’s cheek as good bye :) every day :) but suga and akaashi convince everyone to let them figure it out by themselves :) +

kei doesn’t realize until about the eleventh time he has asked for kuroo’s jacket for his nest :) that night he was surrounded by comfort and warmth in his nest, but the one he was clutching to his chest :) was a soft black jacket that kuroo had worn that very same day :) and +

he sits up with wide eyes, dazedly going out of his room to see akaashi and suga at the table. he interrupts their conversation with “oh my god kuroo and i are dating, aren’t we?”

akaashi just looks at him for a few seconds before replying with a simple “yes.” +

kei trudges to the 3rd floor, where kuroo’s room was, and knocks on his door. when kuroo opens the door, kei doesn’t even come in or greet him before declaring, “tetsu i think we’re dating.”

a few beats pass before a wide eyed kuroo says, “fuck, i’m sorry, i didn’t realize.” +

they stare blankly at each other before losing it. they laugh for a good few minutes before kuroo pulls him inside, presses his back against the door and kisses the living daylights out of him. +

the others thought kei couldn’t possibly smell even more like kuroo. they were wrong. if there was a miniscule room for doubt before, everyone is entirely completely absolutely sure now. that kei is kuroo’s and kuroo is kei’s.
