I read this & my reaction is ppl still don’t recognize how much damage is already done—the next few years will be spent trying to gain control over pandemic & economic downward spiral it has initiated. It will impact a generation. We’ll still be fighting the far right after Trump https://twitter.com/CapehartJ/status/1320360908456157186
There were classes of ppl who didn’t take threat of Trump seriously enough in 2015-16. Thru much of his admin they continued to downplay the threat b/c it didn’t impact them as directly. Even now they don’t recognize how bad things are b/c they aren’t as badly impacted.
It might be 2022 or later before we’re able to have more complete analysis of what’s happening rn & its myriad consequences. We’ll be discussing the impact of how a certain % of the population has been left w/ long term illness even tho they “recovered” from COVID...
...We’ll still be dealing with the fallout from what Trump & McConnell have done with the courts. White supremacist & far right terrorism will still be a threat. We’ll be trying to pull millions back out of poverty & deal w/ the long term damage to small biz & industries.
I know I said previously I wouldn’t detail all the reasons it doesn’t end on Nov 3 but... We need to understand that the damage of 45 admin doesn’t magically disappear w/ the election of Biden. The privileged classes seem to be the most in denial about this.
This is the consequence of not taking the threat seriously enough before now. When it was poor people & racial & religious minorities who faced the most immediate threat, it was acceptable to normalize Trump as an entertaining tv ratings boom. But the USA may never fully recover.
