There are many reasons for this hate. First, ALL of the martial Hindu tribes (even those that British classified as OBC/SC/ST) have Ma as a Kuladevi. In the battleground, they caused unspeakable damage to the colonizers’ armies under the banner of Ma striking fear in their hearts

This struck fear in the hearts of the colonizers. The colonizers correctly identified the source of this power as worship of Ma, and thus began trying every trick in the book to dissuade these warriors from invoking Ma (and their chamchas are still trying re: mahishasura day).

They tried to malign Tantra as “black magic”, a trick that had worked in Europe leading to burning of thousands of innocent women as witches. The caricaturing of Ma Kali as “evil and demonic” continues to this day.

They also tried to pitch the Vedachara sects against the Tantrikas by disproportionately highlighting the Vamachara forms of worship (this still continues and sometimes even works on the dumdums and superficialist Hindus).

The attack is continuing unabated because NOTHING attacks the Abrahamic supremacist ideology which is hinged on the idea of male-supremacy, than an all-powerful and undefeatable Ma Shakti from whom all power is drawn. It hurts the very core of their beliefs and hence the hate.
