If we accept that Arteta wants to play Aubameyang in the wide left role, what do you think is the best thing to do at centre forward?

I’m honestly not sure I have a good answer to this. Would probably give Eddie a go for his ability to press but I don’t really think his all round game is what Arteta wants from the role.

2014 Mesut Ozil would have been a great solution (pls don’t @ me with Ozil opinions).

Shouts for Martinelli and Balogun. It’s interesting because despite us having a load of centre forwards (nominally), there is very clearly an opportunity for a young player to stake a claim if they can get some minutes and succeed.

Returning to this thread. I am not desperate for Aubameyang to be moved central because without other changes it simply will not make a difference. We have seen him there before get totally isolated and look like a waste of a selection. But.

What is abundantly clear to me is that we need to improve the balance and technical quality in the front three. I think it’s safe to say Aubameyang must be one of the three. Wherever you put him, it’s critical that the other two are good technicians who can pass.
