The Feudalist establishment has long seen Lagos as a capitalist refuge that enables Southern resistance .

We've heard of meetings in the 90s where Afenifere threatened to secede and "Statesmen" from another region said they would leave Lagos in ashes before letting it happen. https://twitter.com/Veekietoria/status/1319930966371127298
For too long, the South has kept playing checkers with an institution that's largely playing Chess.

The South's politicians come to the table with the short-term mindset of Traders while the other side comes with relatively long-term objectives.
It's why I look at the deals some southern politicians or even regions try to cut with these people and wonder..

I know it's too much to ask a politician to not be corrupt but at least have a long-term regional mindset that lets you see the threats and opportunities around you.
If you put yourself in your opponent's shoes and see Lagos and a couple of other institutions as factors that limit your dominance, you see how it makes sense to cripple it.

So that guides how you do certain things.

But we don't think like that and it's baffling.
