Fanfic pet peeves: a thread

Sharing a collection of one shots involving different characters without naming the characters in the chapter titles. Please don’t make me read your wholeass intro chapter or click through every chapter just to find one character.

Getting a little TOO creative with your names for genitals. “Core” already makes me cringe, but if you call a vag “cunny” I am OUT. Yes, I literally encountered this just the other day.

Overuse of ~kinky~ pet names. We get it. Everyone wants to be called kitten by Aizawa. Is it really necessary in every single goddamn fic about him?

Posting a long intro chapter talking about how you’re going to make a whole book of one shots only to update it exactly once. Just publish your one shot. You don’t have to make a “collection” if you don’t have time or ideas. It’s okay.

Writing WILDLY ooc stuff. Like, again. I get it. Ooc stuff can be really fun, but I’m reading fic because I want to read about the established characters in different, often spicy situations. Just make an OC.

Over the top AUs. AGAIN, AUs are fun! I like reading them a lot of times. But goddamn. Not every fic needs to involve mermaids(???) or ABO dynamics or, in the case of AoT specifically, a modern AU. Like canon universe is good too.

Providing so little detail or details so vague that I can’t keep up with what the characters are actually doing. My legs are on his shoulders? Literally last sentence he was hitting it from behind and you never specified a change in position??? Details are good.

This is TRULY just personal preference because of my own kinks, but I really don’t like condoms being used in fic? Like, please, please, please wrap it up irl. But in my fantasies? I wanna be a wholeass Twinkie.

Anyway, sorry. I just had to rant for a minute. I’ve been searching for GOOD Tendou/reader fic a lot lately and it’s absurdly hard to find largely for the reasons listed in this thread, so I may be a little salty about it.
