अग्रतः शिवरूपाय वृक्षराजाय ते नमः ||

My salutations to the king of trees.
Whose root is the form of Brahma,
Middle is the form of Lord Vishnu,
And top is the form of Lord Shiva.
"Aswathaya varenyaya sarva
aiswarya pradhayine,
Namo duswapna nasaya,
suswapna phala dhayine".

Oh Aswatha who blesses us and grants all type of wealth, My salutations to you, who destroys bad dreams and grants good dreams.
"Yaam drushtwa muchythe rogai,
Sprushtwa papapai pramuchyathe,
Yad ashrayath chiran jeevi,
Tham Aswatham namamyaham".

I salute that Aswatha,
Seeing which diseases flee,
Touching which sins are destroyed,
And surrendering to which,
You get long healthy life.
Let's begin :
Among all trees, the Ashwatth vriksha is considered as most important (Raja/ King).

Why this importance is given for this tree..? Let's find out.. 😀
Ayurvedic benefits:
* Peepal tree is the only tree which produces copious amount of Oxygen both day and night due to a special photosynthesis process called Crassulacean Acid Metabolism.

*When Leaves interacts with the wind, it kill the bacteria which causes various infections.
* The leaves, when heated in ghee, are applied to cure wounds.
* The bark, fruit and buds with different combination of things cures diseases related with phlegm, bile, inflammation swelling and indisposition etc.

* The powdered form of the fruit of this tree increases appetite
Along with Neem and Tulsi this tree is said to be a great source of Oxygen.

Worshipping the tree means being in the vicinity and thus breathing in health and breathing out impurities.
Daily practices:

* It is better, if we do 7 pradakshina for this vriksha daily.

* The tree is worshipped on saturday, especially in the month of Shravana, because goddess Lakshmi sits under the tree on this day.
* Any person who waters the tree is believed to earn merit for his progeny, his sorrows are redeemed and diseases cured.

Reality: One who waters the tree(tree life increases for next gen.), while doing pradakshina he/she inhales the fresh Oxygen will be bleesed for long time. 🙂
Stories behind Ashwatth vriksha:

As per puranas, Lord Vishnu was born under the Peepal tree and Lakshmi is believed to reside in Peepal tree on Saturdays and that is why women worship the tree for blessings.
In Rig Veda, this ashwattha vriksha is considered as a God.

In Atharva Veda, it is described as the home of all Gods.

In Yajur Veda, it is stated that for every yagya, the peepal tree is very is very important.
In bhagavadgeeta, Lord Krishna said that "he is the Peepal tree".

The roots of the tree are Vishnu, branches are Narayana, stems are Keshav and the leaves are Hari himself.
And Finally, In our culture a 'Samskara(Sacrament)' is given to Ashwatth vriksha i.e. "Upanayana" and "Marriage"(with Tulsi plant).

It's a big 2-3 days grand program, where all worship Ashwatth vriksha.
