I knew DOE's "random" testing was drawing from a narrow pool of only 15% of students w/ signed consent forms. But I didn't realize how few students had been tested. 2 weeks in & only 2.6% of students in blended learning have been tested - 12,000 kids.
Meanwhile, in that same time period, labs tested almost 51,000 school-aged kids in NYC w/ 807 positives - 1.5%. This is 10x the positivity rate of the DOE's much-touted "random" test results. Symptomatic testing can explain some discrepancy but it cannot possibly account for 10x.
Also during that same time period, there were 201 actual infections of kids attending in-person. That's 41 per 100k students - or 3.1 daily. Most worrying, we have no indication whether tracing has identified source of these cases, potential clusters or spread beyond schools.
