Thinking back on the last few years and what I’ve seen from this election campaign: I would have voted BC NDP without question.

They were the only viable option. #bcpoli #BCelxn2020
The BC Liberals have completely ignored young people and those who don’t have savings (including in the form of home equity). They made no connection to these groups and didn’t try to fix anything. #bcpoli #BCelxn2020
The BC Liberals were focused only on their base, thinking that people’s dislike of the BC NDP of the past would guarantee them huge swaths of votes.

This is horribly misguided thinking. No one “owns” any votes anymore. #bcpoli #bcelxn2020
The BC Liberals weren’t effective in reaching out to those young people who want things to be affordable. They didn’t bother to consider how important social views could have an effective.

Politicians also cannot look out of touch anymore, especially not while oblivious of it.
The Greens need to mature into a grown up political party. They are an exciting movement who insist on doing every part of politics differently. If they can build themselves up as a credible and alternative opposition, they are super well-positioned here.
The Greens have improved a lot on this, but they need to involve more professionals and diverse people as party organizers and candidates. And they absolutely cannot tolerate the crazies anymore — it stops them from being taken seriously as a potential government.
Tonight, voters in BC are clearly asking @BCGreens to take themselves more seriously as a potential government. They’ve moved past being a permanent opposition protest party into a budding political party. Now they need to professionalize and mature. #bcpoli #BCelxn2020
The NDP exceeded expectations from 2017. John Horgan shed he’s not “Angry John” and the NDP had a competent government. Not game changing. Not especially great but not especially bad.

And tonight, that paid off for them.
The choice was between an out of touch, old, BC Liberal party, a Green Party trying to find itself, and a reasonably competent and likeable NDP.

The choice was obvious. It was up to the NDP to not implode and they didn’t.
