What is your favorite unintentionally creepy or superstition thing your parents ever told you as a child?

Mine is when I was writing with a red pen and my mom snatched it and said:

"Never write your name in red. It's like signing your name in the book of the dead.

To this DAY. I don't use red ballpoint pens if I can help it.

This thread has become my favorite. Here's a bonus! On my dad's side of the family we were told to not sing when we are eating dinner at the table or La Llorona would appear under the table and start crying and try to...drown you??
