Hello! I am going to talk about an accessibility feature I have seen in some games, this thread might go on for a bit, but I feel it’s important to address this and to do it properly.
I’ve seen a feature called “Photosensitive Mode” appear in some games. While I appreciate the intention here, I strongly recommend you stop calling it that for a number of reasons.
Ok, so the most important:

This doesn’t tell me what enabling this feature does. I need to know what it’s doing! Is it reducing flashing? Cutting out a part of the game? Dimming the screen? This label doesn’t help.
Secondly. This label is incorrect! Photosensitivity is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from Photosensitive Epilepsy.

Photosensitivity is how sensitive the skin is sensitive to light.
It’s kind of, like, well. You wouldn’t say that blindness is the same as colour blindness.

It’s probably not the best parallel, and I apologize for that, but it’s the first thing that springs to mind.
Thirdly. The label implies that enabling this setting will fix epilepsy, which, just NO. There are so many things wrong here and you could potentially get in some serious legal trouble if someone, say, turns that on and then has a seizure.

This is my biggest worry.
Again, I super appreciate that you’re including a setting like this. It’s really great! But you’ve got to be incredibly, INCREDIBLY careful with something like epilepsy.

Similarly, don’t make jokes in your seizure warnings! Don’t do that!
But how do we solve this problem? The best way to help someone with epilepsy is to literally just say what the setting does. It keeps things clear, and is much more helpful for the user.
Anyway, thank you again for your time, and to every developer that thinks about this, it is greatly appreciated.
