This is not a normal person. These claims are an insult to the almost quarter of a million people who have died of this disease. This should not be the person leading us through a worldwide tragedy. https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1320180250920259584
In people with comorbidities, covid like any major insult to the system serves to worsen the outcome. The virus is still absolutely the reason that person died. The comorbidities were their vulnerabilities that the virus took advantage of.
This speech by the person who should supposedly be leading us through this crisis- it breaks me. This apathy, utter willful disconnect from reality of the pain of this pandemic while the country spirals into what might be our worst surge yet- we cannot let this cruelty continue.
This speech is an insult to me and all the other healthcare workers in every part of this country that has been hit hard who gave up parts of ourselves with every patient we lost, while we worked with uncertainty about what tomorrow might bring through our doors.
It’s an insult to those we healthcare workers have lost in our ranks, to those who got sick, to those who had to take time away from our families in quarantine. It hurts to hear this as we are bracing for this winter. This is an insult to us.
In 2014, I was part of Ebola response in West Africa, treated patients in one of lowest resourced countries in world, losing patients often due to lack of enough human/physical resources. After I came back I would talk about how where you are born decides if you die of a disease.
This time around, in best resourced country in the world, it’s our leadership that killing us.

It’s not just where you are born but under whose leadership you live. All the money & expertise in the world will not save you when person setting agenda doesn’t care if people live.
