Paulg set on the fence while his portfolio companies became the vanguard of this behavior. Now he denounces it. đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž https://twitter.com/paulg/status/1319900221988634626
How about refusing to fund such zealots in the first place?
I bet that never crossed their mind. Only after enormous damage has been done people become sympathetic.
It’s almost like a murderer who found Jesus after a decade of campaign of terror.
Now Silicon Valley sits at the nadir of their prestige. Left hates you for not being woke enough, and the right hates you for enabling this disaster.
When should you have drawn the line Paul? Github banning a webm library? When Eich was forced out? When cocs became the norm? When the hysteria swept across faangs?
Doing it now seems little too late don’t you Paul?
No. This is the norm now. Capital isn’t strictly in control of one political group. Your ilk made that behavior the norm. Deal partners who pattern match and only fund for the feel good measures. You need to own it.
If you think you get to freely fire people for wrong think while pushing political agenda against other non SV companies for their firing their employees, you are seriously mistaken.
Until SV VCs own it, they can’t move on. Their brand is now woke-capital. They will only be able to invest in ever shrinking pool of great entrepreneurs.
But ok fund another Stanford drop out. 😂
