I have yet to receive an email inquiring about their potential podcast guest from a booking service or PR that was effective and personalized. 7 years and counting. All cut and paste. And every one of them lied.... (thread) https://twitter.com/koakley81/status/1320135115742334976">https://twitter.com/koakley81...
How do I know every single one of them lied? They said they listened to our show and are fans. Every email mentions how they have a guest that would be perfect and a compliment to all our previous guests.
The only problem is, The UnPodcast doesn’t have guests.

If you’re in PR/Outreach and have a client that wants to be booked on a show, KNOW THE SHOW YOU’RE PITCHING. The value of PR is not a 2020 version of a Press Release BCC’d to a mass database...
It’s about Professional Relationships. Listen to the shows you pitch. To a few episodes. Don’t have time to listen to the 100 shows you want to pitch? Good. Because you shouldn’t be pitching 100 of them. Connect with the hosts. Get to know them...
And then pitch a topic that fits the show. Not their new book. The topic and how it fits. No one wants someone dropping “well, in my new book” 42 times in an interview. Hosts want good content and value for listeners. Give a great interview, the book sells itself.
