Big contrast between the candidates today on the issue of whether we should try to do something about the virus that’s killing roughly a thousand people a day or whether we should ignore it. Decisions, decisions...
At another point in his speech, Trump said that “our numbers are incredible.” The pandemic is worse than it’s been at any point this year. 83,000+ new cases yesterday... hospitalizations are up... daily death toll is rising...
At another point, Trump pushes the idea that places that have implemented mitigation efforts, like the ones his own CDC recommended, are only doing it to hurt his “numbers.”
The US had a massive heads-up when it came to the virus. As it was tearing across Asia and Europe we could have been trying to prepare for it. We didn’t. We could have been living relatively normal lives by now, with some minor inconveniences around things like masks... but no.
We all want this to be over. No one is cheering the virus on. I want to be able to see my grandma at least one more time before she goes (she’s in her 90s, so time is limited). I know others have the same or similar hopes.
