Ever seen a banana with seeds? In one of my trips to Malaysia I found very wild bananas growing in the forest. How wild? Wild enough that it was 70% seed. The seeds were rock hard. Whatever little flesh it had tasted very good though. Floral and sweet, but difficult to eat.
Ok lots of interest in this thread so before it goes too out of hand, here are more cool bananas! Ever seen red ones? I tried some of these in Sarawak, Indonesia. Beautiful red skin but bone white flesh. Kind of tasteless and bland.
These tiny finger bananas were the best for eating. Paper thin skin, no seeds, bouncy flesh (not starchy), supremely sweet, very floral. Excellent for frying too (as fritters). Banana for scale part 1.
More finger bananas. This one next to a millipede in Sumatra. Banana for scale part 3.
Banana for scale part 3
K apparently I cannot count but here’s last banana for scale part ??. A boring, GMO tasteless and bland banana that happened to be unusually straight.. I don’t normally eat bananas much because I’ve had such good ones that these just turn me off
