If any healthcare professional is interested in learning about nutrition, be wary of the words "lifestyle medicine" in any conference or course (1)
There's a 45% chance it's a conference held by vegans who've already decided 100% plant based is the best.

There's a 45% chance it's a conference held by the low-carb crowd who've already decided carbs are the worst.

There's a 10% chance it might be legit (2)
Save yourself the attendance fee.

I will demonstrate how each of these courses will meet their aims at CONVINCING YOU TO CONSUME THE BEST DIET EVER WHICH IS DEFINITELY VEGAN/KETO (3).
Cherry-picked observational data:

VEGANS: any observational study showing meat consumption is associated with mortality.

KETO: PURE of course (4).
Interpret PREDIMED whichever way they like:

VEGANS: The Mediterranean diet is a plant-based diet. The plants provided the protection.

KETO: The Mediterranean diet is high in unprocessed animal products, whether it's meat, fish or poultry (5).
They will invoke mTOR:

VEGANS: Milk is terrible for us because of mTOR

KETO: Meat is great for us because of mTOR (6).
You can't address lifestyle without insulin so:

VEGANS: a plant-based diet improves whole body insulin sensitivity.

KETO: reducing carbs resolves hyperinsulinaemia (7).
They'll both have the *controversial* section which gets people debatingđź‘Ť:

VEGANS: Be wary of eating fish.

KETO: Don't forget fruit raises insulin (8).
They'll both point out the deficiencies of the other diet:

VEGANS: "Where do they get their fibre from? Just awful".

KETO: "Who wants to be deficient in B12 and n-3 LOL!" (9).
They'll both invoke "the evidence".

VEGANS: "This an evidence-based approach, based on science".

KETO "This an evidence-based approach, based on science" (10).
They'll both point out that other people misrepresent the data:

VEGANS: "Keto is not based on good science"

KETO: "Veganism ignores the science" (11).
Finally, [Since 2019] they'll both invoke environmental credentials:

VEGANS: Dairy and carbon issues.

KETO: Think of the top soil (12).
So save yourself the money. If you want to learn about nutrition science, and what a fair representation of what's currently known and unknown, check the list of speakers. If they all promote the same diet AVOID (13).
Finally, for those who are grateful for having saved ~ÂŁ250/$300 in attendance fees, do consider donating it to my Pandemic Limoncello Fund. I will post the Venmo link shortly (14).
