tw: mention of rape & abortion

WHAT IS GOING ON IN POLAND RIGHT NOW:

For a long time now Poland's abortion laws have been the most restrictive in Europe. It has changed since yesterday unfortunately, for worse.
Until now abortion was legal in 3 cases - when the pregnancy was a result of rape, when the health or life of the mother was endangered because of it, and in case of severe foetal defects. Yesterday, the last clause was crossed out, effectively making abortion borderline illegal
The ruling party did that in a despicable way. Instead of taking the usual legislative route (voting in the parliament) the puppet Constitutional Court comprising of party cronies has been used. The Court ruled the law, which has been in effect for decades, is unconstitutional.
This means that all pregnant people will be forced to give birth to deformed, incompatible with life foetuses. Imagine having to carry a baby for 9 months that you know won't make it. This is the kind of torture that the Polish government is subjecting us to.
Since yesterday, protests have been taking place all across Poland. The biggest one - right under the house of Jarosław Kaczyński, the party's president. The police used tear gas against protesters, many people were apprehended. Many more protests are planned.
One thing is certain - Poles will not forgive what has happened yesterday.

important to note: It is estimated that around 100,000 women seek a termination abroad each year to get around the tight restrictions.
