This will be a long post but I need to say this: I’m sure this will piss some folks off but I have to put this out there. The news story and the pic I am posting in the comments were sent to me from 2 different people but they represent my frustration with how people are 1/7
dealing with this virus. In the community where the hospital is located parents threw a private homecoming party for the high school students. No masks or social distancing. The reason of course was “but it’s their senior year.” Well that frankly is a BS reason. 2/7
My senior year of HS I was an honor student & cheerleader. I went to every sporting event, dances, retreats, etc. I’m in my mid 50s now and none of those things matter to my life today. What does matter is I am alive and do not have lasting effects from a highly 3/7
contagious virus I contracted by ignoring medical science. I’m alive to see all the marriages & births in my family. To see my family grow and spend birthdays & holidays & summers together. I know when you are a senior it all seems important but as you grow older (if you are 4/7
fortunate to do so) all of the HS things mean less and less. Trust me, you do not peak in HS. You peak as you become successful in your career, marry, have children but none of that is possible if you die just like this Dayton student. Yes the risk is low but young people are 5/7
dying. Young people are getting sick with the result being possible lifelong heart issues. Is it all worth it? Is your daughter putting on a pretty dress when she is 16 more important than putting on a wedding dress later. Is you son or daughter running onto a sports field 6/7
more important than seeing them hold their own children...or having your own parents here to see that beautiful scene too? 7/7
