Is it OK for a Christian to be a single issue voter? I believe wholeheartedly that the answer to this question is yes. 1/12
For some, the atrocity and sheer volume of abortion related death is so unconscionable, that it is their single issue. 2/12
For others, the atrocity of senseless black person death is so unconscionable, that it is their single issue. 3/12
For others, economic flourishing that eradicates poverty and inequality (whether from the left or the right) is their single issue. 4/12
And there is more. In the same way that Christians are given many gifts to serve the same kingdom, they are also given many prophetic passions and emphasis to serve the same. 5/12
So, while it is fine for a Christian to be a single issue voter, it is not fine to be a single issue Christian. 6/12
While every Christian will *major* on certain kingdom concerns, he/she must also at the very least *minor* on every other kingdom concern as well, without bias or exclusion. 7/12
As one friend of mine has said, “We cannot be all a cart in our concern and advocacy for human rights and human dignity. 8/12
The moment one becomes a Christian, one gives up his/her right to accept ANY human collateral damage for his/her political alignments and priorities. 9/12
And, Wherever his/her politics fails to support or even contradicts kingdom concerns, it is upon him/her to work outside the political system accordingly, by supporting related nonprofits, and speaking out prophetically on related concerns. 10/12
The necessary consequence of this is that every Christian engaging faithfully will upon occasion make members of his/her own party upset. 11/12
In summary, if you are going to be Jesus’s person, you are also going to have to be *your own* person in the political landscape. Jesus will be nobody’s political mascot or loyalist. The same must also be true of you. 12/12
