I come to you all with a shocking revelation. Upon looking into more appearances of the Hench Tanker I tweet so much about, I've come across something- well, like I said above, shocking.
There was another.
Making this a thread because there's quite a bit to unpack here!

So some of you may be wondering, what is a Hench Tanker? It's a catchall name for what I thought was just a one-off oddity: a tanker that was built with its wheels set ridiculously far apart, which, along with its similarly-built twin, was built during Series 2. Say hello.

For simplicity's sake, in this thread I'll be referring to the Hench Tankers as HT-1 (TAR) and HT-2 (White) respectively.
HT-1 seems to make its earliest appearance at the beginning of The Runaway. It can also be seen in Better Late Than Never (just barely) and Break Van.

As for HT-2, its S2 appearances are something I've yet to fully work out, but I'm fairly sure it's in these shots in Break Van. The last pic could very well be the first time you see both Tankers together in the same shot! (HT-1 is next to the flatbed) Exciting stuff, I know.

In Series 3, HT-1 gained TAR lettering on one side, as shown twice in No Joke for James (its breakout story, though it appeared earlier in Famous Visitor) - this will be vital for identifying it later on. HT-2 remained white, and appears at the beginning of Donald's Duck.

HT-1 returns in Trust Thomas, in a much more prominent role as one of the Tar Wagons left at Edward's Station. It's also in the very first shot of Post Train as well as a very very brief second of One Good Turn - it's very likely in Escape too but it's too dark to tell!

As for Series 4, HT-1 can just barely be seen in the background in A Bad Day for Sir Handel, Trucks!, as well as one shot in Steam Roller that HT-2 is in as well. 1 is in Rusty to the Rescue, too - just behind BoCo.

HT-1 appears very heroically tilted in Thomas and Stepney. Both are in Toad Stands By as well - which is what made me realize there were two tankers to begin with...!

HT-1 makes (what I can ascertain is) its last S4 appearance in Paint Pots and Queens.
As for S5, both appear in Horrid Lorry, but HT-2 was cut from the actual episode and can only be seen in the Little Engines music video.

HT-1 gets quite a few appearances this season; in Happy Ever After, the end of Sir Topham Hatt's Holiday, A Surprise for Percy, and a few others which I would list but I can't add more than 4 photos so they'll be in the next tweet.

Both tankers are seen together onscreen again for a second in Busy Going Backwards, which is a beautiful segue into what HT-2 was up to this season. It's in Thomas and the Rumours and (potentially) Oliver's Find for a second as well.
Riveting stuff, truly.

Clearly, HT-2 was busy preparing for its big screen debut. In Thomas and the Magic Railroad, you can see it at Knapford during the Really Useful Engine sequence, as well as at the sheds just before the Sneezing Powder hits. No sign of HT-1 tho, at least from what I can tell.

So that's all the on-screen appearances of the Hench Tankers that I could scrounge up - but I'm certain there's more out there, maybe even in Series 6 and beyond...! (doubt it)
Thank you for baring with this silly little thread and have a lovely day!
