Do you want to start making money through Freelancing but struggling to get started?

Here are some tips for you to get started and grow from there:

🧵👇🏻
Most people struggle to get their first freelancing task. I used to think I may never be able to earn any money through freelancing with my skills (until last year).

But freelancing is not difficult at all!

You just have to go through the barrier of getting that first task.

👇🏻
Once you complete your first task, there's no stopping you.

Know that even 👉🏻 YOU can make a lot of money through freelancing!

Here are some tips to land your first task and how to grow from there:

👇🏻
▫️How to land your first task?

Sometimes it can be difficult to get clients on Upwork, Freelancer etc

There are so many developers on these platforms and there's a high chance that your application gets lost in the noise.

Rather try applying on relatively new platforms.

👇🏻
It is easy to find your first task on new platforms like Codementor, PeoplePerHour, Fiverr, Guru etc as there are less freelancers on these platforms.

In this thread I've mentioned the complete list of top Freelancing platforms:

If you want detailed steps to get your first task on Codementor, this thread will help you with that:

▫️Do's and Don'ts in Freelancing:

- Start small: Start with small tasks. Like fixing a bug, writing a script to do something trivial etc.

People get stuck with bugs all the time and they come on these platforms looking for help after getting frustrated for a long time.

👇🏻
- Ask for a review: Generally most platforms allows you to get reviews from clients after completing a task.

Always ask clients to leave a rating and feedback comments after the task is done. Most clients are happy to do it.

This will help you find more tasks in the future.

👇🏻
- Do not overcharge or undercharge: Sometimes you want to undercharge for a task because you just want to make whatever money possible. Don't do it!

This may be okay for the initial few tasks but don't do it after that.
Generally clients don't mind paying good money if the quality of work is good. (I've charged around 300$ for a 2 hour task sometimes)

At the same time, do not overcharge clients too. Charge them the fair amount and deliver quality work and they will come back to you!

👇🏻
- If you're not confident about a task, take it anyway.

You can figure out the unknown parts along the way.

The worst that can happen is you'll not be able to complete it in which case can you can let the client know politely and refund if any money was paid already.

👇🏻
- Do not keep doing the same kind of tasks forever. You have to grow. Be it freelancing or in any aspect of life.

Once you get the confidence in completing smaller tasks, start taking bigger tasks like building websites for companies which can span b/w few weeks to months.

👇🏻
You can even apply for part time jobs on Toptal, Codementor etc where companies / clients hire you for projects spanning multiple quarters.

Generally you'll have to go through an interview process and once you get through it, you can get paid based on a fixed hourly rate.

👇🏻
If you're still struggling and need a hand holding during this process, you can buy a good course on the market.

Personally I love what @study_web_dev has been doing in freelancing space and highly recommend buying his course:
