I have something on my mind that I'm not sure is time appropriate but is a very necessary thing as far as I'm concerned, so that more people see how alike we really are, and how we should all have more empathy for each other.
Anyway, here goes nothing. The response to the military and thug activation and consequent murders of unarmed and peaceful protesters during #EndSARS protests, by a majority of my TL tells me that the Niger Delta is a completely different country and apart from Lagos.
Lagos acted with shock! With indignation and absolute shock at the blatant disregard for human lives by the Armed forces, and even moreso, the total disregard for fickle things like honesty and what actually happened. That the Army and govt just kept lying shocked you guys.
But you see, I am from the Niger Delta, I am from Gbaramatu, so my reaction was one of "Of course! This is how you've been behaving to us for a long time!". The reactions are different, because our interactions with the Military have been different.
It made me see how Nigeria fucks with all of us in a different way everytime. And that regardless of where you live, once it concerns the Nigerian Government and Armed forces against a group, you should first of all, give the benefit of doubt to the other group.
I saw how a surprising number of accounts here, with no knowledge of the issues, celebrated when the FG razed down villages and murdered even more people in the guise of "Looking for Tompolo". There was even relish and a few "they should stop harbouring him" tweets.
As someone smarter than me said: "Nigeria will happen to you", so please let us always fight against the injustice of the Nigerian Armed forces everywhere we see it, because they will come back and do it to someone else if we all remain silent.
