January 2018, a 42-year-old farmworker, Aron Mutavatshindi was shot and killed, allegedly by his employer, on a farm in Tarlton, outside Krugersdorp. Some farmworkers claimed he was killed for using the tractor to fetch lunch from his house. 8 shots were fired to unarmed Aron.
These 5 Free State farmers killed black farmworkers, Samuel Tjixa & Simon Jubeba, who went to Loedie van der Westhuizen's farm to claim their salaries but Loedie refused to pay. After they left, he alerted his security & fellow farmers about "intruders" They were killed 8km away.
Mbongiseni Masuku & his uncle were badly beaten by his farm bosses & tortured with electric shocks. The uncle died from the injuries. The farm bosses attacked Mbongeni at his house. A year later the police have yet to arrest the farmers even though there were multiple witnesses
2005 Mark Scott-Crossley ordered his farmworker to tie up another farmworker Nelson Chisale to a tree. They beat him up & fed him to lions. Mark was convicted of murder in 2016 but released 2 years later, which is odd because while in jail he was charged with assaulting an inmate
Mark’s story doesn’t end there. 2016 he attacked a farmworker, smashed his phone before running him over twice with his Jeep. The worker, Silence Mabunda, was hospitalized after the incident. The incident left him paralyzed. Mark was arrested a year later. He's still out on bail.
Martin Visser (who could easily be mistaken for John Steenhuisen’s twin brother) beat up worker Adam Piertese with a spade, dragged him on a quadbike & buried him. 2 weeks before he killed him, the farmer was convicted for assaulting Adam & was released on R800 bail.
Anele Somana from the Eastern Cape was killed by his farm owner boss & his 2 sons. His body was chopped into 2 parts with a chainsaw. When asked about the cause of the killing, the police investigating the case said: “There are allegations that Anele stole a goat a long time ago”
Grant Reckless Miles, a white farmer killed his farmworker, 45-year-old Sithembele Ngene with a knobkerrie on the head. This after Ngene arrived drunk at the farm. He was released on R5000 bail and currently awaiting for his trial.
