What do we know about sociology of #Belarus ian protest? Here some interesting figures from offline opinions polls by Aksana Shelest (Centre for European Transformation, Minsk), project "Mobilise" ( https://mobiliseproject.com/ ) and polls from @ChathamHouse by @RyhorAstapenia (THREAD)
1) What caused the protests?

2) About 70% of #Belarus ians agree or somewhat agree that elections were falsified

3) 45% of protesters joined before 11 August => means MAJORITY joined ONLY AFTER repressions became obvious. 60% protesting #Belarus ians joined first protests alone (!) in the last two years, while 90% of them got information ab. protests in internet https://newbelarus.vision/onukh-summary/
4) A values poll in 2017 showed that respect of the rule of law was one of the most important values for #Belarus ians => hence, after-election police violence and de-facto non-functioning judiciary cannot be tolerated by people

5) Almost 70% cannot remain indifferent when women are arrested => hard detentions of women motivated more people to protest
