Yogita was working at @ncwindia when the Nirbhaya rape case happened in 2012. Deeply affected by it, Yogita participated in the ensuing protests & has talked about the violence she faced. “In one of the protests, one of my legs also broke.”

Still, she persisted in her fight and attended every hearing and even sat outside the jail when the hanging of the rapists finally took place recently.

In 2015, Yogita came to know that the juvenile rapist in the Nirbhaya case was set to be released.

Yogita headed her own protest to fight against that decision. She campaigned to change the juvenile justice law age limit for rapists from 18 to 16 years old. She even convinced Jyoti Singh (Nirbhaya)’s mother to join the fight.
