Maybe unpopular opinion but it’s the responsibility of parents to feed their children, not the tax payer.

Child benefit = £281.25 pm for the first child, I pay £180 pm shopping for a family of 4!

UK is biggest welfare state in the world! We need to teach money management
Paying for kids meals on the state is putting a plaster on a severed limb.

We need our tax payers money to be spent on improving the job prospects of EVERYONE and access to careers for all people
I grew up on a council estate in South London with 4 siblings, we had nothing so I know the struggle.

Real change has to happen, we need jobs for working parents, more jobs for disabled, and more career routes for disadvantaged people
ONLY when we improve the future prospects of ALL people can we start to really make an impact on other areas such as poverty, homelessness, and looking after the planet.

*I said child benefit in first tweet, that is wrong, I meant UC child element.
And before people have a go at me for my OPINION, read the whole thread. I am not an arsehole who thinks children should go hungry.

I am merely stating that there is a much bigger underlying problem that needs addressing
Do you remember being a child and hiding on the stairs with 4 brothers and sister when the milk man, tax man, bailiffs knocked on the door for there money.. I do, I remember it very well.
And before you judge me, or think you know who I am or what I am about, watch this video.

I am working as hard as I possibly can to improve the prospects of ALL people https://youtu.be/BuRdd5pxpqg ">https://youtu.be/BuRdd5pxp...
Thank you so much for everyone discussing this thread. Mostly a measured, clean debate.

One thing is for sure, politics aside, we ALL care and that’s what is important.

We all have more in common than you may think, never forget that and be kind https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙏" title="Folded hands" aria-label="Emoji: Folded hands">
