Robin Vos projecting BIG TIME in his FB post that he says states the "truth" about his record. It's basically Vos saying to us Wisconsinites who are suffering, "Who are you going to believe: me or your lying eyes?" So, allow me to respond to each of Vos' four points. @JoelforWI https://twitter.com/Sam_Wunderle/status/1319786776303722497
@GovEvers proposed giving the DHS a "sum sufficient" appropriation to respond to the virus but Vos didn't want to give up control so the bill set up a $75M fund to be overseen by the Legislature’s GOP-controlled budget committee, forcing Evers to submit requests. Sounds familiar?
WI Republicans also dragged their feet in passing the bill mere days before WI would have lost out on hundreds of millions of federal dollars, forcing @GovEvers to sign an inadequate bill that was suppose to be a starting point in giving relief to Wisconsinites, not an end-all.
Robin Vos, who never fails to remind everyone that the WI Legislature is a “co-equal branch of government” to the executive branch, complains that Evers isn’t bringing any “concrete ideas” to the Legislature while WI GOP lawmakers have brought nothing, nada, zilch to the table.
Vos' description of the bill that the Legislature passed six months ago as "comprehensive" is ridiculous. Evers and Legislative Democrats warned that much more would need to be done and I suppose Wisconsinites will soon have a chance to weigh in on which party has been correct.
Our full-time WI Legislature has passed ONE COVID relief bill and that was six months ago. ONE!!! By comparison, Minnesota, which has a hybrid full-time/part-time legislature, has held 62 floor sessions since March, including five emergency sessions to specifically address COVID.
And it's not fear mongering to point out how Wisconsin Republicans have failed EN MASSE to lead by example. Instead they decided to spread misinformation and not wear masks or practice social distancing at public events. As a GOP leader, Vos could have done a hell of a lot more.
Robin Vos became lazy & complacent when Scott Walker was governor b/c he got too comfortable never having to compromise. And then he realized that he could use expensive private lawyers (at taxpayer expense) to sue & get the courts to do the Legislature's work. What a sweet gig.
Vos has enriched himself personally through his role as a legislative leader (landlord-benefiting laws/manufacturing tax credit) & highlighting the hypocrisy of him requesting a PPP loan when he has railed against public benefit programs his entire career is absolutely fair game.
Vos did everything in his power to make sure Wisconsinites had to make the difficult choice between their vote and their health on Election Day in April and he still refuses to acknowledge that's the reason why he was rightfully ridiculed for wearing full PPE as a "poll worker."
"But man, proud man,
Drest in a little brief authority,
Most ignorant of what he's most assured,
His glassy essence, like an angry ape,
Plays such fantastic tricks before high heaven
As make the angels weep; who, with our spleens,
Would all themselves laugh mortal."
