I'm watching the Pete Sousa special and the Obama "... change has come to America ..." moment just played.

Yes. It did.

And we have spent the last four years watching America's conservatives do everything humanly possible to undo that.

Change scares people.

To bring any kind of change and make it last, it has to be at least palatable to a majority of people. Those people to whom it is good have to not sit back and relax. Those to whom it is not enough have to embrace the small steps.

Whichever kind of change you want.

Democracy only works when people participate.

When life is generally good, people tend to tune out. Let the machine run in the background. That leaves democratic society in the hands of the committed edges.

Never think change can't be undone.

I hope we're learning that.
