From Lagos to Osun to Kwara to Cross Rivers, several warehouses where government were keeping COVID-19 palliatives were discovered and as expected, people did justice to it by taking what they felt belong to them. However, alot of people have been raging, asking why
government will hoard palliative meant for the hungry citizens since the time of COVID-19 without distributing it, this thread will set the record straight.
When COVID-19 was still ravaging, State Governments received food palliatives from FG and well to do individuals in the society and distributed to the people. Was the palliative then judiciously and fairly distributed is beyond the purview of this trend. But during those times,
the people from the Private Sector form a Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CA-COVID), this group is led by Alh. Aliko Dangote and the CBN Governor, many 'who is who' in Nigeria Private Sectors, all come together to contribute money to assist the Government to alleviate
the economic effects of COVID-19 lockdown. CBN donated 2bn, Dangote donated 2bn, Abdulsamad Rabiu of BUA, Segun Ajagbe of GTB, Tony Elumelu of UBA, Oba Otudeko of First Bank, Jim Ovia of Zenith, Herbert Igwe of Access Femi Otedola, Mike Adenuga and Lafarge, MTN donated
1bn each and there were numerous other donations. As at June 30, 2020, this group have contributed over N30bn. The money was used to support government in the provision of medical facilities in the 6 geo political zones across Nigeria,
which includes the setting up of testing, isolation and treatment centres, they set up a 1,000 bed space isolation centre in Lagos, 500 beds in Kano, 210 bed in Rivers, 200 in Abuja and etc and diverted the bulk of the money to the provision of palliative, the palliative(food)
component alone involves over ₦20bn with the intention of distributing this palliative to 1.7 million households amounting to about 10 million people across the 774 local governments in the country, including the FCT https://twitter.com/realFemiOtedola/status/1252585214808928256?s=19
However, I think they thought the lockdown would go on for longer than it went and maybe because of logistics issues, they were unable to distribute any palliative to any state during the hotspot period of COVID-19. But they started distributing the palliative to some states in
early August and as we may all know, it's impossible to distribute to the 36 States of the federal silmutaneously, especially when the Program is being handled by the same committee all over the country, who must equally monitor it.
Also, as designed, the palliative, cannot be distributed to the people by any state without a formal flag off from CACOVID, it's one of the prerequisite every state must follow before distribution and as we may all know, Flag off cannot be done in secret.
If at all, and for whatever reason, the flag off was done and it's not known to the public and state governments want to conceal it, @cacovidng will not.
The flag off of the distribution of this palliative was not done in any State in Nigeria until August 5, 2020 and the flag off was done silmutaneously in Delta, Ogun, Yobe, Plateau, Ekiti and few other states on that date. (Mind the date)
This is the flag off of the distribution in Kogi State on 16th August, 2020 https://twitter.com/cacovidng/status/1295348296601542659?s=19
This is the flag off of the distribution in Ekiti State on 5th of August, 2020 https://twitter.com/cacovidng/status/1296522283276738568?s=19. This is why when a warehouse in Ekiti was burgled yesterday, what people found was Silos and this was the message from the state government https://twitter.com/adeoluoyebode/status/1319723668788989952?s=19
This is the flag off of the distribution in Ogun State on 5th of August, 2020. https://twitter.com/cacovidng/status/1297215002303180800?s=19
This is the flag off of the distribution in Delta State on 5th of August, 2020. https://twitter.com/cacovidng/status/1297965494159511552?s=19https://

After the series of flag off done on the 5th of August silmutaneously is some states, some flag offs have equally been done in other state at a later date. This is that of Edo in the first week of September, 2020 https://twitter.com/cacovidng/status/1308842695536914432?s=19
Here, you have the one for Imo state, done in late September https://twitter.com/Hope_Uzodimma1/status/1310140447650713600?s=19
Lagos state government for example received (Flag off) her own food from the @cacovidng on September 22 https://twitter.com/followlasg/status/1308522855710236672?s=19 and have began distribution https://twitter.com/followlasg/status/1310592383046877184?s=19 https://twitter.com/followlasg/status/1310592328214683648?s=19
Beyond this, why would any Government or Governor want to hoard perishable foods? Some said they are keeping it for the Election in 2023. Well, the expiry date of noodles is 2yrs max, it means even if those noodles were produced today, they will expire by 2022 ending
Some people said the political class want to share it among themselves, hence reason for hoading. COVID-19 started in March, this is October, they would have long share it. I wish that was true though, my fam would have collected too😉
So, it's not true that any of the state government hoard the food, they cannot even hoard it if they want to, as the palliative is not from them, they are merely instrument for equitable and proper distribution and must account back to CACOVID.
The purpose of doing this is not to defend anybody but to set the record straight as someone who knows about it and has been following it since May. I guess I have done a good PR job for @GboyegaOyetola @RealAARahman and @followlasg
I know and to a very large extent, I am sure @cacovidng themselves will set the record straight in the coming hours
