Love this movie/soundtrack so much. Saw it in the theater over Spring Break of my freshman year & have revisited both frequently ever since. I’ve had this cd for over 20 years(?!). Damon Albarn & Michael Nyman - Ravenous OST (1999, Virgin) CD. #NowPlaying
The mix & clash of Albarn and Nyman is a singular as the movie, itself, and conveys its sensibilities perfectly. The melody of Boyd’s Journey is genuinely beautiful, and I get goosebumps every time those bass strings kick in on Colquhoun’s Story. Then there’s Saveoursoulissa

When you have to explain to your friends’ mom why you want to leave the sleepover
Oh my god, and that queasy sing-song loop in the first half of The Cave,

This other loop from The Cave always reminds me of the Harpy’s theme from The Last Unicorn...
Wonder if Albarn sampled this? (Side note: listened to the Rosemary’s Baby audiobook after @Remember_Sarah recommended it on here, and it was cool to hear Farrow jump back into that role, but her voice just kept bringing me back to The Unicorn/Lady Amalthea)
I wonder if anyone’s ever used Savoursoulissa as their intro/walk-up/overture music? Can you imagine coming out to a crowd with this?
Listening to the Bird/Albarn commentary for the first time in years, nice insights into both the movie and the score.
LOL, Carlyle got Pierce drunk n whiskey for this scene, and you can really see it in the way he wobbles and dives into the stew.
For so many reasons, I keep thinking of Apocalypse Now as a kindred spirit with this movie. Sort of a prequel, innit?
I’ll just /end this thread by saying RIP Antonia Bird and
