The reason why he's just plain wrong: capitalism IS NOT the market system. Even assuming that a self-sustaining market can exist under a barter system (which is difficult, how do you determine prices? - you still need a currency),
you probably aren't gonna rely on a market system
And we haven't even gotten to capitalism itself. Capitalism is a system that requires various supporting institutions. YOU need a strong state to protect private property rights. YOU need infrastructure to have national markets and prevent arbitrage.
you need financial innovations to ease the process of capital accumulation. Rearing chickens in your backyard and then exchanging them with your neighbor's potatoes is decidedly *NOT* capitalism.
