🚩🔥 We are expecting very high fire danger & a @PGE4Me #PSPS in Berkeley starting Sunday.

While we have had many Red Flag Warnings this year, this event poses a greater threat. Hills residents should consider leaving before Sunday afternoon. 1/

Forecasts project winds in the region to be as strong or stronger than those present during 2019's devastating Kincade Fire and the 2017 wine country fires. Combined with record-low moisture levels, these winds are expected to create the most dangerous weather so far this year 2/
. @PGE4Me has told the City that it anticipates 1,500 Berkeley customers will likely be impacted by the #PSPS. We expect the area east of Claremont and around Panoramic Hill to be affected.

Use the PG&E address lookup to see if you will be impacted: https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/addresslookup/  3/
The combination of strong winds, record-low humidity, and dry vegetation enables wildfires to spark and spread rapidly. 🔥🔥🔥

Everyone should be on heightened alert. If you are not signed up for 🚨 AC Alert emergency notifications, now is the time --> http://acalert.org  4/
We have activated our Emergency Operations Center and increase fire resources and police patrols in the hills. A Fire/Forestry task force will be ready to rapidly respond to downed trees blocking evacuation routes.

If you see a fallen tree, please call 3-1-1 to report. 5/
🏨 We encourage hills residents to consider preemptively evacuating to the homes of friends, family or to hotels until dangerous weather subsides.

Several local hotels are offering relief rates for hills residents during this Red Flag Warning 6/

Please take time before Sunday to make sure you're prepared to evacuate:

🎒 pack a go-bag and put it by the door
🗺️ review evacuation routes
👨🏽👨🏽👧🏽 talk to your family about your plan
🚘 back into your driveway or garage so you can exit more quickly 7/
We have a lot of information about how to get ready at http://cityofberkeley.info/wildfire . It covers making a plan, packing your go-bag, preparing your home, and what to do during an evacuation.
