I didn’t expect my eyes to well up when I filled in that bubble.

Maybe it was the overwhelming feeling of holding my daughter while seeing a Black woman’s name in such a prominent location on the ballot.
Maybe it was the feeling of getting my entire family to the polls — being in one spot in my hometown with my whole family for the first time in long time.
Maybe it was the feeling of voting while surviving a pandemic all while also working full-time, protesting two mini humans and playing the role of 24-7 daycare teacher for almost eight months.
Maybe it was the feeling of knowing what’s at stake — the feeling of knowing who and what could’ve been on the ballot, but understanding that this road is long and this journey’s gonna take a special type of endurance.
Maybe it was the feeling of knowing I’ve done all I can do — from moving our family across the country and back to calling, texting and even living with folks I’ve never met before.
I don’t know why exactly I got emotional — I actually surprised myself.

But I do know it ain’t over til it’s over.
Go vote and bring somebody with you. Then call someone you think could use some encouragement and ask them to do the same. Let’s make these last ten days count, y’all. 💪🏾🗳
