"casuals ruined [game] and i wish they'd go play something else instead of making this one worse" is definitely the worst video game take for subscription mmos (i saw this comment about WoW just now but i see it about all of them)

someone said about a similar argument exploding in xiv somewhere that this take is cold af because broooo hardcore raiders sub for one, MAYBE TWO months after a patch and then they're GONE. you think you pay for that video game to exist? fuckin NO

if the casuals were gone, your game would be experiencing more and more content droughts or eventually shut down in no time.

just look at things like wildstar. the people that were horniest for wildstar were the WoW players that missed their supposed halcyon days of the "hard" raids from vanilla and tbc. where is wildstar now
