Historia's development
A simple thread to understand her ~

Historia grew up alone. Her only friends being animals and the only person loving her being her sister, who had to erase every memory of their interactions. Her mom got killed before her eyes while wishing she never had her. And her dad abandoned her right after.

That being the reason why she was sent to the military and later "chose" to join the Survey Corps, her only goal being to die a hero. She met 1 person who was able to understand her right away. That 1 person later leaving her to pay her debt to those who betrayed the Survey Corps

She was low and had nobody at that point. But Eren managed to change that. He was there to continue what Ymir started. And that made Historia really happy, seeing someone be there for her at such a point in life must've been a feeling nothing could match.

Later, when her father came back to kidnap her, brainswash her and push his ideals to her she was ready to take the role of Krista. Sacrificing herself to save humanity, dying a hero. Wich would mean abandoning Eren and her promise to Ymir. So she chose to reject that.

She did that to save Eren, to keep her promise and live her life with pride. This is what it means for her. It means rejecting humanity for the ones you care about, even becoming a public ennemy in the process. And that's exactly what she's doing at the moment too.

She chose to reject the humanity everyone is so desperate to save. To save herself, her savior, her people and to keep the promise she made. Just like in the uprising arc.
