Episode 4 of #SoulmatesAMC
is a perfect slice of pure happiness. It’s damn funny, it’s got action, a bit of adventure, romance, honesty and a duo I didn’t know I needed but wanted so much more of. Bill Skarsgard and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett are so fantastic in this

A thread:
It starts with a bit of flirtation, dancing and a hookup (which is awkwardly funny) and it plays out quite realistically. Mateo and Jonah have a great banter that evolves so nicely over the perfect 43 minute runtime. #SoulmatesAMC

The banter between Mateo and Jonah is simply fantastic. Bill Skarsgård is absolutely hilarious throughout the episode. Jonah is a bit of a con-artist and Mateo is a naive child. When you mix those two together the adventure that comes about makes for such a fun ride #SoulmatesAMC

Mateo is on a journey to find his soulmate that gets interrupted. This episode did exactly what I wanted. It highlights that love isn’t a match, it’s a connection. A soulmate is something you work for. Also, his dreams are so desirable, I really connected with him. #SoulmatesAMC

A love story, a rom-com with action and joy that happens to be gay and is never treated in such a way is what makes this #SoulmatesAMC
truly masterful. There’s no outside judgement, no coming out etc, just people treated normally searching for something good in their lives

This banter is gold
You have no idea how funny this duo is from these shots. This is the power of having a writer who understands gay characters (thank you Evan Placey). When do you even see these dynamics ever with gay characters?? Never. #SoulmatesAMC

Crazy shenanigans

This entire scene is glorious. Bill and Nathan’s comedic timing and facial acting are superb. If you don’t laugh then they’ll make you smile. U don’t see these types of interactions or settings with gay characters. We need more #SoulmatesAMC

This party scene is one of a couple stops throughout the night and and not what you think, the cockroach racing is too funny. U also see their connection grow so much in these moments where they work together. I adore a good progression of love and/or connection. #SoulmatesAMC

This is one of my fav moments. Jonah talks about wanting a farm when they talk about a fantasy they want. How the resilience of plants is something he admires. It’s poetic and such a simple want. It’s a heart to heart that so many straight characters get in rom-coms #SoulmatesAMC

They laugh and they are vulnerable together and maybe I’m so deprived of happiness but these moments are what I live to see. I vicariously live through my tv shows and their characters to see a life that I think we all would like in some form. To be happy at least. #SoulmatesAMC

This scene is not elaborated further but I believe it’s open to interpretation. I connected w/ Jonah here. I feel it’s not for not wanting love, it’s just hard. Hard in a community that will judge you, decide you aren’t what they want by looking at you, it hurts. #SoulmatesAMC

Jonah says something later that’s so sad. I understand it’s to further his point & it feels realistic & I think adds to my perception that he feels not good enough. It broke my heart just like the scene above. This is why u have to let LGBT POC tell their stories. #SoulmatesAMC

The way they fight for one another, in their way, is so cute. I wasn’t expecting it to play out this way. I love how they put in the effort to listen to one another. Not everything can be said but it’s felt. You don’t get to see a guy saving a guy very often at all. #SoulmatesAMC

These two are fellow romantics and I absolutely loved it. They’re also so funny. Not what you’d expect it at all. Why can’t we have more things like this
It subverts or plays with romantic tropes so well. #SoulmatesAMC

The ending is literally perfect and it’s happy. It plays out in a way that honors the characters and plot, it’s brilliant. There’s no tragedy and no sadness. It’s just happiness and striving for what you want. I was so impressed. #SoulmatesAMC

I’ve never seen an episode so joyful, adventurous and happy with gay characters before. I hope writers look to this episode as a blueprint for what LGBTQ characters can and should be. Please give the writer Evan Placey more work like this. I desperately wanted more. #SoulmatesAMC

Stream it now on AMC+ or watch Monday at 10/9c on AMC. If you watch anything this year, watch this episode. It made me so happy and I really needed it. Sorry this thread is long. It made me emotional. Happy tears
