Yesterday, we gave a quick rundown of the #HunterBiden email scandal (and why you should be skeptical of it). Here are our findings:
Recap: This Monday, more than 50 former senior intelligence officials signed a letter saying that they are “deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role” in the Hunter Biden email scandal.

Why?
Such an operation would align seamlessly with Russia’s objectives, would mirror past Russian operations, and would align with several recent events involving Ukrainian politician Adriy Derkach and businessman Rudy Giuliani (for more information, check out Part I of this thread)
On Monday, DisinfoLab social media analysts found evidence of potential Russian bot and troll activity on Twitter related to the Hunter Biden email scandal using BotSentinel’s A.I. tools that track activity from inauthentic Twitter accounts:
On Monday, “Hunter Biden” was trending at #7 amongst Twitter accounts that show high potential for bot or troll activity.
#HunterBiden, #BidenCrimeFamily, #BidenEmails, and #JoeBidenUkraineScandal all reached the hourly top ten trending hashtags from suspicious accounts more than once throughout the day.
Other topics trending amongst inauthentic accounts hour by hour throughout the day included “Laptop Emails,” #CrookedJoeBiden, #BidenScandal, “Hard Drive,” and “FBI Investigating”
We draw from this evidence that, regardless of whether the origins of the Biden email scandal are rooted in Russian disinformation, bots and trolls have begun to latch onto the topic in order to sow further chaos and division.
