I have a summary of why it is that poor people suffer so much, even in the UK.

I call it my Bin Bag thesis.

So, well off folk seem to find it impossible to imagine what daily life is like if you have little money. We know this, and it's a huge problem. /1
So I like to sum it up in one image.

Imagine you have too little money to adequately and comfortably feed your family. You're going to have to buy the cheapest bin bags, aren't you?

So you've got your kitchen bin with it's cheap bin liner. It doesn't fit properly. /2
Every time you put something in the bin the bag drops into the bin a bit more, so you have to reach in and sort it out do the handles are reachable. Then you've got to wash your hands. /3
When the time comes to take it out to the dustbin, it's thin and tears easily. It leaks. You're stressed, carrying the bag gingerly to the bin. It tore and you had to double bag, but some stuff fell out onto the floor. /4
You have to spend time cleaning up after this, as you can't risk bin germs getting everywhere. You're so tired. These bin bags are shit. /5
Now imagine a rush person, with expensive, strong bin bags that perfectly fit their bin. They will never really have to think about bins. They'll not get a sinking feeling when they know they have to take the rubbish out. They're OK. /6
Now imagine this difference for every single other thing in life. Shoes. Clothes. Food. Pens. Toys. Electronics. Every single cheap version spawning millions upon millions of micro-moments of annoyance, disappointment, discomfort, stress... /7
It becomes exponential. Time lost, stress caused, all growing at an alarming rate because you're already skint.

How to you escape this? /end
