/6 The Fall of humanity into sin was a fall out of love as our fundamental psycho-social operating system into selfishness. This caused a core level fracture in human character so that we naturally incline to extremes as a tactic to evade the shame generated by our selfishness.
/6 We survive against our shame by holding extreme positions that allow us to have enemies to exalt ourselves over as “right” by contrast to those “idiots” who are “wrong.” Hating you allows me to hold my self-hate at bay. If I can write you off, I can live with myself.
/6 We swing into conservative extremes as a way of subconsciously preserving our sense of being right against our own guilt for being wrong, assuming that externally imposed control is the solution to the anxiety our guilt generates. It is not.
/6 We swing into liberal extremes as a way of subconsciously breaking free from the dictatorial demands our guilt imposes on us, assuming that freedom from all control is the solution to the anxiety our guilt generates. It is not.
/6 The only real solution to the anxiety our guilt generates is to allow ourselves to be fully known and fully loved in the same moment, as a seamless consciousness, mending our core-level fractured sense of self, thus removing our compulsive need to have enemies.
/6 God’s unconditional love is the good news that allows us to consciously process our guilt. Once we believe we are fully known and loved by God, we no longer need to occupy extreme positions “against” one another. Now we can try to understand one another and come into balance.
